This month has been great for technology. Not only do we have electricity for our iPads and iPods, but we have free WIFI at our house, free fast WIFI at a local hotel, cable TV and all sorts of things. As you can imagine, there have been many downfalls to this luxury, as well as the convenience of it all. I haven't been reading as much as I had been, we've been struggling with our quiet times, haven't been as social with our contacts as we could be, arguing over who used the computer when, who's movie are we going to watch that night, etc.
So, we've decided to do a week long "screen fast". This means no screens, as in no ipods, ipads, TV, computer, internet, anything. It will be good, but very challenging. I've already started a new book and have been encouraged to do my quiet time every day and spend more time in the living room with the host family and neighbours.
Now here's the part where I challenge you all to do the same. Woo! I know technology makes the world go round these days, but maybe you could live without it for a week, or even a day, and spend that time with your family or in your Bible. Maybe find somewhere you can volunteer your time and schedule a time during your evening TV time or morning internet scan. Fasting is an important practice in the Bible. Fasting doesn't have to be with just food, you can fast from anything that you are putting before Christ in your life.
So, I'll see you all next Tuesday! Please be praying for our team as we enter into this time of fasting, thank you all for your support!
I can't wait to see what all God does in us and through us all this week! See you Tuesday!
