We’re in Malaysia! We’ve been here for about a week and a half. Last week was spent in the city of Kuantan. We did house visits, prayer walks and this past weekend put on a youth conference. We also visited the beach a few times and started our winter shopping for China. I’ll be honest, I never would have thought I would enjoy working with youth so much but I really enjoyed this past weekend. We did sessions Friday night, all Saturday and Sunday afternoon. We played games, worshipped, broke out into small groups and the main focus of our sessions was the choices we have as believers. We choose Jesus. We choose faith over fear, our identity, and our friends, etc. We choose to worship the Lord and build up the body of Christ. I got to lead a small group of 8 girls. It was a great weekend over all!

Tuesday, we traveled from Kuantan to Jerantut, which is about 3 hours further into “the interior” of Malaysia. Here we will be doing a lot of the same things – prayer walks, church visits and preaching. This morning, we woke up at 4am to go and begin our day praying with the church for an hour. I'll be honest, I wasn't happy at first waking up that early, but the time of prayer was much needed. I've been amazed by the people here. Both in Kuantan and Jerantut, we've been working with the Tamil Methodist Church which is Indian. The people here are so generous. All of our meals have been provided by members of the church and so we've been able to fellowship with them and pray for them. We've been praying over a lot of families this month and God is teaching me so much about the power of prayer.
The church here loves the Lord. They're faithful in prayer. They are generous and have hearts of service. I'm learning so much from the body of Christ and the community of believers here as we're serving them. They're truly treating us with honor. It's humbling.
Please keep Malaysia in your prayers. The Christians here are few. Hinduism, Buddism and Islam have a hold on most of the people, but the church is rising up and freedom is being released. Pray for the believers here to be encouraged and lifted up and please pray for us as we're working hard here. We've kept busy so we're growing tired, but we will have a few days off once we get to Kuala Lumpur before we fly out to China!
