What Does Living In Abundance Look LIke?

Last night at the Center for Global Action, we got into a discussion about abundance mentality versus poverty mentality. It got some things stirring in my spirit because if I'm being honest, I don’t feel like I am living in abundance.

My days are full of ministry and they are busy.

When I'm not working in the marketing department, I am administrating the worship track, attending discipleship classes, having one on ones or working part-time.

Sure, I am a missionary. I work at an amazing organizaiton and am surrounded by top-notch people in ministry. I travel the world.

I keep busy doing all these "good things." But when it comes down to it, am I really living in the fullness God has for me?

I look at my living situation. God provides for my needs each day, but I continue finding myself complaining about my lack.

I focus on what I don’t have and the struggle of living off of less instead of being content and thankful for what I do have.

It also connects spiritually  I often notice where I am not rather than being aware of where I am and how far I’ve come.

And even in this month as I'm looking to the future and praying about where to go next, I can't help but ask, am I making decisions based off of my circumstances or am I listening for the Lord's voice in this?

“Do not spoil what you have by desiring what you have not. Remember that what you now have was once among the things you only hoped for…”

– Epicurus

Hearing that quote struck my core.

I have not been trusting God and believing that he is good. I have not been content just to be in relationship with him, and that is not living in abundance.

Living in abundance stems from believing God’s grace and his goodness are enough, being content whatever your circumstance, and listening to the Lord. And that is really what matters, what lasts.

What does living in abundance look like to you?

Please pray with me as I am  discerning where to go after my time here at the CGA.

Also, please pray with me as I am excited to announce that I will be leading a 2-month trip (June-July) with Adventures' Passport program. I don’t know where I am leading to yet, but will keep you posted!

  2. This. ““Do not spoil what you have by desiring what you have not. Remember that what you now have was once among the things you only hoped for…”
